Carbon Reduction Plan

This Carbon Reduction Plan covers the Company’s UK operational boundary and has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and the Technical Standard for the Completion of Carbon Reduction Plans.

Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Nationwide Healthcare Solutions LTD recognises the urgent threat of climate change and the healthcare sector’s responsibility to mitigate environmental impact. The Company is formally committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.

This target is aligned with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap. We recognise our responsibility to minimise environmental impact across our operations, supply chain and distribution network through continuous improvement, transparent reporting and practical carbon reduction measures.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions provide a starting point and a reference against which future carbon reductions are measured. Due to a reporting correction, 2025 is established as the formal baseline year because the previous baseline year was not completed and the current complete year will now be taken as the baseline.

Baseline reporting year: 2025. Emissions reporting period: 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025. All emissions are reported in metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) and have been calculated using the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and the appropriate UK Government emission conversion factors.

Current Emissions Reporting

As of May 2026, the 2025 baseline represents the Company’s most recent and accurate complete data set. Data collection for the 2026 assessment year is currently in progress. This report will be finalised, board-approved and published following the close of the 2026 calendar year.

Future Carbon Reduction Plans will report year-on-year changes against the 2025 baseline to track progress towards the 2045 Net Zero target.

Carbon Reduction Targets

Nationwide Healthcare Solutions LTD is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. To support this long-term commitment, the Company has adopted the following interim targets and operating commitments:

  • Maintain and update this Carbon Reduction Plan annually.
  • Maintain 0 tCO₂e for Scope 2 emissions through the continued procurement of renewable energy where this is within our control.
  • Reduce the impact of purchased goods and services, which currently represents approximately 96.9% of total reported emissions.
  • Target a 50% reduction in direct fleet emissions by 2035 through transition to low-emission, hybrid or zero-emission vehicles.
  • Progress against these targets will be reviewed each year and reported in future versions of this Carbon Reduction Plan.

Completed Carbon Reduction Projects

Transition to Low-Carbon Energy

The Company has successfully transitioned its facilities to low-carbon energy sources where available and within its operational control. By the 2025 baseline, Scope 2 emissions were maintained at 0 tCO₂e.

Operational Inventory Efficiency

In alignment with our strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency and automation, we utilise inventory tracking systems to prevent over-ordering. This measure helps minimise warehouse storage requirements and reduce wastage within our materials category. In alignment with our strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency and automation, we utilise inventory tracking systems to prevent over-ordering. Digital Working and Reduced Travel

The Company uses digital systems, cloud-based collaboration and remote meetings to reduce unnecessary printing and travel. Microsoft Teams meetings are encouraged with stakeholders wherever this is appropriate and does not compromise service quality or operational delivery.

Future Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Employee Mobility and Sustainable Commuting
  • Promote car sharing for staff commuting to reduce single-occupancy vehicle journeys.
  • Encourage Microsoft Teams calls for meetings with stakeholders to reduce unnecessary travel emissions.
  • Launch a bike to work scheme to encourage active travel and improve employee wellbeing.
  • Introduce an EV salary sacrifice scheme to support the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles among staff.
Supply Chain Engagement and Education
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to prioritise products and materials with higher recycled content where clinically and commercially suitable.
  • Deliver sustainability awareness training for the workforce by the end of 2026 to foster a carbon-conscious culture.
Fleet Efficiency and Replacement

We plan to transition the directly managed fleet towards fully electric or hybrid models as current lease agreements expire, with the aim of achieving a zero-emission fleet by 2035 where operationally practicable.
